Aaaaargh!

Posted : 1 year, 2 months ago on 21 September 2008 07:53 (A review of The Incredible Hulk)

I just can't believe this. I'm so very dissapointed...
I mean, of course I wasn't expecting a genius script or anything like that. It's clear that Hollywood prefers horrible scripts that are flat and plain stupid over anything that shows even a remote resemblance of cleverness.
So, I wasn't hoping for a great movie, in terms of script.
I surely wasn't expecting THIS bad, though.

I mean, EDWARD NORTON and TIM ROTH, for heaven's sake! I sure as hell thought "well, if these two agreed to be in a super-hero movie, it MUST have something interesting".

Well, no.

This is just a HUGE waste of talent and money. I'm outraged at how many people work in a movie like this, how much money is spent, how many talented actors (and all the other staff, creative and otherwise) are wasted to make two hours of pure shit.

Sad. Just sad.

Open your mind

Posted : 1 year, 2 months ago on 16 September 2008 07:29 (A review of The Triplets of Belleville)

This film is completely out of this world. Watch it with an open mind. I imagine it won't suit everybody's taste, but I found it amazing. It's brilliantly done in every aspect: drawings, colors, animation, music... the gestures of the characters tell the whole tale without having to say words.
At least you'll see something completely different from what you're used to and -whether you like it or not- something of great quality.

Help yourself: watch something else

Posted : 1 year, 7 months ago on 24 April 2008 11:11 (A review of The Mist)

I didn't read the book, so I will only focus on what I saw on the screen.

I often wonder why is it so necessary for scary movies or thrillers for the characters (most of the times nearly ALL of them)to be completely stupid for the script to go on. That talks about the incompetence of the screenplay writer (at least).

This movie was one of the finest examples of it. Every single character is more retarded than the one before. The only one that seemed a logical human being was the child.

The movie seems to depend on this for the disasters to happen. When you create a stupid movie, yes, you can only rely on stupid characters to do stupid stuff that leads them into disaster.

The sad thing is that if it was well thought, disasters can happen without EVERYBODY being imbecile.

The end just ties everything with a bow, proving once again my point.

And I saw it because someone recommended it highly!!!

Simply mediocre

Posted : 1 year, 9 months ago on 22 February 2008 07:34 (A review of 88 Minutes)

If you are a compulsive watcher of thrillers, go ahead. Otherwise, don't even bother.
First of all, I still don't get what is it that everybody seems to see in Al Pacino. Why in the world do they consider him a good actor? I haven't seen him change his face, voice, body language -or anything really- ever.
The main character is poorly composed, both in acting and in writing. It's not a believable character at all.
The others are ok, although you can tell there's a really lame acting direction -and- screenplay.
The directing itself is mediocre, obvious and cheap. The dialogs are a very unsuccessful attempt of being clever, which leave the actors -that are trying to sustain the character- looking very stupid.
Overall, yet another mediocre attempt of a thriller that in my opinion was a complete waste of time.
